How I got into BJD in an interesting story, I am a long time fan of anime or japanese animation, as well as dressing up as anime characters or cosplaying and going to anime conventions. So just being into those things, I have seen BJD dolls before. Though back then I didn't know what to make of them really. What really caught my interest was seeing the BJD meet photos from Anime Expo 2004. Then a friend of mine got an MSD and that's what really got me started. I began looking around, learning all about them and soon I knew I had to have one. BJDs fit in with my other two hobbies, anime and cosplay so well. I was also lucky to get into BJDs when it was the busier at work so I could afford them. I was never really into dolls before as a kid or anything but I liked how customizable BJDs are and I really enjoy making them clothing. Now almost a year later I have a growing family of dolls and am totally addicted.

When I first got into BJDs, I of course started looking around to find which dolls I wanted to get. It's hard to remember when but I soon came across the F08, which was a head from Volks and FCS option. I loved the whole look of the F08, I think it was the lips which I loved the most. It soon became my dream doll but not one I originally planned to get. This was because of the price of a FCS doll, $1050US and with me living in Canada I knew there was no way I could afford a doll that price at that time. A bit later on I was looking for my 1st SD sized girl and there were none I wanted as much as an F08. I learned that the F08 head was also sold as an optional part in Japan so I had a chance. This was right when Volks discontinued a lot of there dolls so F08 heads were getting rarer. I began to hunt on Yahoo Japan for a head and eventually I got lucky! I found a nice head for a steal of a price. I won it for $185USD which included shipping and all of the fees! Then the head was in need of a body. I decided to get a temporary Dollfie Dream body until I could afford a resin one.

As soon as I had won the head I had already begun to think of a name for my F08. It took me a while but I finally decided on the name 'Sioned' which I got from the book; The Dragon Prince by Melanie Rawn. I had always loved the named Sioned and it was perfect for my new girl. I gave her my own interpretation of how to pronounce the name, unlike the novel character I chose 'Sea-owned'. Sioned came home at first as just the head and already I adored her except the faceup she came with was not what I had in mind. I got a lucky break though as the talented Waterlily was offering free faceups. I got a spot in her schedule and Sioned's head was sent off and while she was away I was able to get her temp DD body. Soon the head had returned and I was amazed at how wonderful she was! There was instant bond, I finally had my dream girl! Even on the DD body Sioned was wonderful and I began to develop her personality and style. I also needed to decide what resin body I wanted to get her. Eventually I decided on a Cerberus Project girl body, which I had seen F08s on before and loved the look of. The new Volks pureskin bodies have necks that look a bit too thick for the F08 in my opinion. I got another bit of luck again this time by this ezine's own creator Lyssa who had a less mature Soo body she wanted to sell. It was at the June Vancouver BC dollmeet that Sioned finally received her body and became complete.

Even before Sioned came home I started to develop her personality, she can basically be described in two words. 'Sexy Sweet' meaning she can be all sweet and cute at times, but also has a more playful sexy side. Her personality really sprung from her look I think, because of the light pink tones of her faceup. I wanted her to look sweet but not too innocent so she could still pull off looking sexy. I decided on this look so she could pull off a lot of different looks and clothing styles. Her personality didn't really developed from one place exactly I just kind of pieced it all together. I've role-played a lot and I love to read fantasy novels so a lot probably came from there. I knew her background was going to be from a medieval style world often in the fantasy theme books I read. Also I wanted her personality to be able to work and blend into the present day world as well. As for her look not one thing or person really inspired me, I had seen a lot of F08s in my searches so I knew the look I wanted. I've never been a fan of red because I'm so fair skinned and I stick to lighter colours. This was reflected in Sioned as well, she has lighter tones for her make up and style.

Sioned is an interesting young lady, when most people see her they think she's sweet and innocent. While she can be like that when she wants to, Sioned has a real fun loving and sexy side. Sioned is usually quite friendly and out going and has a sexiness to her, but she never goes to far. She's a passionate and loyal young woman and a very dependable friend. She can get jealous when it comes to Amren, who she adores. Even though she misses him a lot while he is away, she doesn't let that keep her all depressed! Coming from a noble family she can act proper and ladylike when she wants. Most of the time she finds no need for it and prefers to be more casual. She's not the type to talk in slang or swear though. As I mentioned, when it comes to Amren Sioned can be quite jealous! Sioned hates seeing other women get to close to him, though she does trust him. Sioned can be a bit mothering at times to Keelan (my Tender Yen), who gets annoyed by that often. Sioned is a wonderful young lady but can be quite demanding and stubborn at times. (Amren by the way is my soon to arrive LE Lune who shall be Sioned's lover.) Sioned favorite colour is mauve, she loves purple a lot but also wears a lot of white. She doesn't like to wear much black or darker colours or anything too punkish most of the time. Sioned gets along quite well with the other dolls I own, she's best friends with my Nono Lucinda. She's pratically adopted my two MSD boys, my Tender Yen Keelan and my Harang Xane as her little brothers. All in all Sioned is a very special girl and is quite aware of that fact!

I wanted to mention a bit about having Sioned on a Soo body, the head is from Volks and the body is from CP. I love the Volks sculpt but there was no body from there that I wanted for Sioned. I wanted a more slender neck and medium sized breasts so the less mature Soo body was perfect! The head fits pretty good and I really like the scale of it on her. The resin match isn't perfect but that has never bothered me! Sioned adores her body too so its not going anywhere lol.

The hobby of BJDs just fits into my other two hobbies, cosplay and anime so well it makes it a lot of fun. Also the huge community also makes it interesting, I would have never imagined just how many there are around the world. As time goes I see me getting more dolls, though I hope I can have good control. No matter how many I get though Sioned will always be my dream doll that I got!
